place we have chosen to call home~or our home

away from home. It is the connection we share, the common thread that weaves our

stories together and keeps us here or draws us back. It is this history, our own history

that forms the fabric of this resilient and caring town.

About our community

Some of us were born here, others grew up here, and

many grew up visiting. Phelps is a community where

people take pride in their surroundings and genuinely

care for their neighbors, that spirit of connection and

pride is at the heart of everything we do.

Our journey so far

In 2010, the Phelps historical museum first opened

its doors, welcoming visitors into a space dedicated

to learning about the town's rich past. In 2015 We

took a bold step forward by securing a loan to

expand our vision. In December 2025, we proudly

celebrated the satisfaction of that loan and are

thrilled to now own our building. Today, we are

preparing to embark on our next - and most ambitious goal yet, expansion.

The project

We have already invested $57,000 in professional construction plans and with

unwavering dedication and enthusiasm, we are ready to move forward. This project

represents not only our responsibility to preserve the past but also our commitment to

shaping the future of Phelps. Our town has a long and impressive history of coming

together to support one another and achieve important goals. When individuals with

shared values unite behind a cause remarkable things happen. This is one of those

moments and we need your support more than ever. The projected cost of the museum

expansion is 1.5 million, while this is a significant undertaking, the lasting impact of this

project on our community and surrounding areas will be profound.

This investment will allow Phelps historical museum to:

● Preserve Phelps history ● Expand educational & cultural opportunities

● Create a welcoming space for community connection ● Expand exhibit and program space

● Ensure our stories are shared for generations to come ● Improve accessibility and visitor

experience ● Create secure climate-controlled storage to properly preserve artifacts.

● Protect irreplaceable historical items for future generations.

Many of the artifacts in our collection require stable temperature in humid conditions to

prevent deterioration. The expansion will ensure these important pieces of Phelps

history are preserved with the care and respect they deserve.

To make participation accessible, we offer multiple ways to give in a range of gift levels,

allowing each supporter to contribute in a way that is meaningful and comfortable. Your

tax-deductible contribution to the Phelps Historical Museum Expansion Fund will help

create a lasting legacy. One that preserves our shared history, brings our community

together and provides a space for education, and connection for generations to come.

This project holds a deep and personal significance for us, and we know it does for many

of you as well. Through our partnership with the CFONCW Community Foundation of

North Central Wisconsin and the PACF Phelps Area Community Foundation donors may

choose to make a one-time gift, pledge a contribution over time, or establish a legacy gift

that will support the museum well into the future.

Our Continued Thanks

The people of Phelps left us more than just buildings and

photographs. They left us a story, a spirit, and a

community worth protecting. This campaign gives the

opportunity to ensure that their legacy - and the story of

Phelps itself - will still be told a hundred years from now.
